Twickenham RFU gets the Custom Treatment!

How do you provide tracking and curtains for a stage area in a prestigious suite of probably the most famous Rugby ground in England, when the stage electrically rises out of the floor and can be used at different levels? Oh, and the curtains and suspensions need to completely disappear when not required! By calling Custom Group Ltd!

Working with architects Ward Mchugh Associates and fit-out experts Styles and Wood Ltd, our theatre team designed a square grid trussing suspension system to hang the performance curtains from. Operated by a powerful electric winch connected to the grid via steel cabling and diversion pulleys, the structure can be lowered right down to floor level to facilitate the addition of the curtains. The grid height can then be set to accommodate any stage height, ensuring the curtain drops are perfect and maintaining maximum flexibility for the venue.

When the curtains are not required they are easily removable and the grid can be positioned high in the ceiling to avoid any interference with the current usage of the venue.

This project was completed well within timescales by our own NICEIC accredited electricians and is a great example of how our specialist theatre team can add value to the most complex performance engineering requirements.
