We were delighted to be involved in the recent unveiling of the Jimmy Hill statue outside Coventry City's ground, the Ricoh Arena.

Club sponsors City Link approached us for ideas on how to initially screen and then unveil the £100,000 bronze statue, which was a tribute to the man who is accredited with turning around the fortunes of the club in the late 1960's.

Our Theatre team suggested a continuous cylindrical velvet curtain, hung from a simple steel frame structure, which in turn had a number of securely fastened steel wire ropes all leading to a centrally sealed shackle. This would allow the existing crane on site to lift the structure and reveal the statue in front of Jimmy himself, fans and other dignatories associated with the club.

Despite the weather being a little blustery on the day, we were delighted that the ceremony went without hitch. An emotional Mr Hill was almost speechless at the 7ft figure which had been largely funded by fans and local business.
